The Syracuse University football team is down in Orlando getting set for the Camping World Bowl on Friday.
The 20th ranked Orange will take on #16 West Virginia.
However, the Mountaineers will be without starting quarterback Will Grier.
Grier will sit out to prepare for April’s NFL Draft, and with the news of Oregon’s Justin Herbert returning to school next year, he may be one of the first QB’s taken.
This may end up being a blessing for the Orange, as they’ll be facing a very inexperienced quarterback in sophomore Jack Allison, who’s attempted only 10 passes in his career.
However, ‘Cuse head coach Dino Babers told our sister station in Syracuse, WSYR, that the preparation for this game is still very similar to how the team prepares for any other match-up.
“I think it’s like any normal game, except that you get a lot more time. You have to do it at two different sites. Most of the work has already been done before we got down here. But, you still have to fine tune a lot of the little things to make sure that you give a good performance,” says Babers.
We’ll have more coverage on Thursday, leading up to kickoff for the Camping World Bowl on Friday at 5:15 pm.
