Earlier Monday, the United States taking on Spain in the Women’s World Cup Round of 16.

In the 5th minute, Megan Rapinoe with a penalty kick opportunity and she converts.

The United States go up 1-0.

Only a couple minutes later, and Jennifer Hermoso answers for Spain.

Off the turnover by the Americans, Hermoso with the first goal scored against the U.S. in this tournament.

That makes it 1-1.

A critical moment here deep in the second half as a foul is called on Spain inside the box.

A penalty kick is awarded to the U.S. again.

The play was reviewed for several minutes but the call stood.

So, some questionable contact that the U.S. greatly benefits from as Rapinoe gets another opportunity, and she buries her second PK attempt of the game and makes it 2-1 U.S.

And that score would hold the rest of the way as the U.S. wins it, 2-1.

France knocked off Brazil yesterday to advance.

The United States and France meet Friday at 2:00 pm.
