Bad blood doesn’t even begin to describe the relationship between the U.S. and Canada women’s ice hockey teams. Since women’s ice hockey became an Olympic sport in 1998, only two countries have ever won a gold medal and they’re the same two that will Thursday night in Sochi.

In addition to going for gold, the us will also be going for revenge. Canada’s controversial 3-2 win in the group stage last week left a bitter taste.

Veteran Julie Chu is playing in her fourth Olympic games with the U.S. The previous three trips ended with Canada taking home gold. Now the 31-year-old hopes the fourth time’s the charm.

“We came to win gold. I’ve been fortunate to go to three Olympics,” said Chu. “We have 10 new players, not thinking about past, or future just what we can do tomorrow.”

The women’s gold medal game can be seen live on NBC 5 today at noon. Meanwhile, the U.S. men take on Canada on Friday at noon in a semifinal matchup.
