U-E little league team enjoying tournament experience in New York City

One of the unfortunate parts of my baseball career was I was never on a team good enough to make it to the Little League World Series.

However, for the Union-Endicott 12A All-Stars, that dream is still alive.

As you saw here yesterday, U-E won their first game in the New York State Tournament over Webster, with big thanks to Nick Lang.

He hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 8th inning to give U-E the 2-1 win.

The team couldn’t have asked for a better start, and head coach Mike Nyschot says they’re looking forward to their time in the city.

“More than 75% of them have never been to the city, Manhattan or the Bronx. So, it’s just going to be a great experience for them. We’re going to have a great time tonight, do some sight-seeing. And, obviously, they’re proud of their accomplishment,” Nyschot said.

After a schedule change due to rain, U-E and Wappinger now play Friday at 4 pm.
