Some sad news to pass along.

Former legendary Union-Endicott High School coach Fran Angeline passed away last Friday.

Angeline, who was 83-years old, spent the better part of three decades as the head coach of both the U-E football and tennis programs.

He helped guide the Tigers football team to state championships in 1979 and 1989, and was named New York State Coach of the Year both those seasons.

He was also named the National High School Coach of the Year in ’79.

In 2014, the U-E field house was dedicated in his name, and he was inducted into the Greater Binghamton Area Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.

Angeline is survived by three children.

A wake is scheduled for Wednesday from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Allen Memorial Home, with the funeral service to be held Thursday morning at St. Ambrose Church.
