U-E eliminated from tournament by New City, 3-2

A great run by the Union-Endicott Little League 12A All-Stars came to an end this weekend.

After falling to Wappinger 5-2 on Friday, U-E had to try and rip off five-straight wins to take the New York State Tournament title.

However, it wasn’t meant to be.

U-E would drop their second game of the double-elimination tournament 3-2 to New City on Saturday, knocking them out of the tournament.

Although they may have fallen short of their ultimate goal, it was still a thrilling run by U-E and no one can take that away from them.

U-E beat Fayetteville-Manlius to win the Section 1 East title on July 19 to send them to the state tournament.

The team’s NYS Tournament play was highlighted by a Nick Lang walk-off homer in extra innings to give U-E the 2-1 win over Webster to open state tournament play.

Congratulations on your accomplishments boys. You made the Southern Tier very proud!
