Tim Tebow hitting All-Star break on fire

For the next couple days, most of the Binghamton Rumble Ponies players and staff can take a step back and relax as the team gets a short break for the Eastern League All-Star Classic.

However, there are five Ponies players who don’t have that luxury because they’ve been selected to play in said game.

Tim Tebow, Levi Michael, Patrick Mazeika, Daniel Zamora, and now David Roseboom, who replaced Nabil Crismatt after his call-up to Las Vegas, will all make their way to Trenton, New Jersey for Wednesday’s All-Star showdown.

At the All-Star break, Tebow has shown why he deserves to be heading to Trenton.

For the second time this season, Tebow is in the midst of a six-game hitting streak.

The last time he did that came back between June 22nd and 28th.

Over the course of his current streak, Tebow is batting .353 with five RBI’s and two multi-hit games, including a 3-for-4 showing to begin the streak.

Thanks in part to his second quarter surge, Tebow has taken a .234 batting average on June 15 and has jumped it up 36 points, eclipsing the .270 mark for the first time in Double-A.

He had only three games out of 20 after the 15th of June when he didn’t record at least one hit.

Last week, Tebow talked about what it meant to him being named an All-Star in his first year at the Double-A level.

“It’s a great honor and it’s a privilege, and it’s something I’m looking forward to. But, not necessarily something that I focus on because honors are great, and they can come and go. But, we have a game tonight, we have a lot more in the season, we just have to continue to focus on the process and improving. It’s the same thing that we’ve talked about every week for, I don’t know, the last two months. There’s been weeks when it’s been bad, there’s been weeks when it’s been good. But I think the one thing for me is just been constantly focusing on the things we’ve talked about every week. On improving, on the little things, on the task at hand on that day,” he said.

Tebow and his fellow All-Stars take the field at ARM & HAMMER Park on Wednesday night.

Then, they return to the Ponies as Binghamton begins a four-game series with the Akron Rubberducks on Thursday in Akron.
