Syracuse men’s basketball survived its first true road test of the year to pick up a big non-conference win.
SU topped No. 16 Ohio State in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, 72-62.
The Orange battled foul trouble all night long but finished with three players in double figures led by Tyus Battle with a game-high 20 points. Elijah Hughes finished 18 points and Oshae Brissett scored 11 of his 14 points in the second half.
The Orange trailed 31-29 at the half but an 11-0 run midway through the second half helped the Orange pull away from the Buckeyes, 55-45, and keep the lead for good.
SU enjoyed its best shooting performance of the season. The Orange shot 11-24 from behind the arc after entering the night 24-103 from distance at just 23%. Hughes led the three point barrage hitting a career-high four threes.
Syracuse is now 4-2 this season. SU returns home for a 7-game homestand on Saturday, Dec. 1st against Jimmy Boeheim and Cornell at 8pm. The game will air on ESPNU.
