New Bills can’t wait to join Josh Allen

With seven additions on offense this week, it’s clear the Bills plan in free agency was to give Josh Allen playmakers and protection. They all can’t wait to work with him.

But Allen may be more excited to work with them.

“Josh Allen was the first person to call me,” John Brown said when he addressed the Bills media for the first time Thursday.

Cole Beasley had the same experience.

“He was the first person I talked to,” Beasley said. “You could tell. I could hear it in his voice over the phone. He was very eager and hungry to get better, and he wants to do this thing the right way and turn this thing around.”

“He was just amped up about it,” Brown said. “I was just glad to hear from him.”

Brown said the uncertain quarterback situation kept him from signing in Buffalo last year. Not only is he impressed with Allen the player, he’s impressed with Allen the leader.

“You don’t see most young guys (call new players first) who are trying to take over a team.”

Beasley was asked what he likes about Allen. He started his answer with a one word sentence that may have been all the words he felt were necessary.

“Film,” Beasley said. “It doesn’t matter what people say. You can tell what a guy’s about by watching him play. I’ve seen clips of him. I’ve seem him do things with his legs, and the way he throws the ball. I just want to come here and help him as much as I can.”

Brown is expected to be one of the Bills’ top deep threats. As a speed receiver, he got the question that always comes with joining a Josh Allen team.

“Do you think Josh Allen can overthrow you?”

“Honestly I think he can,” Brown said with a smile. “I don’t say that about a lot of quarterbacks, but I think he can.”

Allen didn’t hesitate to contact Bills general manager Brandon Beane after the early work of free agency was done.

Beane says Allen sent him a GIF in a text, but wouldn’t specify what it was. Beane did say it was clean and that Allen appreciates all the moves the Bills front office made this week in free agency.

Just like his new receivers.
