Mets top Nationals 2-0

Happy Opening Day everyone!

The 2019 season beginning all around Major League Baseball on Thursday.

Among those teams looking to begin their 2019 season with a win was the same club that was just in Syracuse two days prior.

The New York Mets down in Washington to face Max Scherzer and the Nationals.

Robinson Cano making his Mets debut, and what a show he put on.

First at-bat with the team, and he tees off on Scherzer.

Deep left-center, and Cano puts New York up 1-0 in the first.

That would be all the run support Jacob deGrom would need.

Big swing and a miss there.

And another one here.

Jacob deGrom went six innings while giving up five hits and fanning 10.

Cano was responsible for the entirety of the Mets runs in this one.

He added an RBI single in the 8th to put it away.

The Mets win it, 2-0.

They move to 38-20 all-time on Opening Day, the best mark in all of the four major sports in the last 50 years.
