On Tuesday, I was over at the Vestal boy’s lacrosse practice as they prepared for their state semifinal game with Victor.
There was a certain air of calm and focus around the team, knowing what lie ahead of them.
Well, on Wednesday, the time finally came for the Golden Bears to go out and try to make program history.
A rainy one as Vestal and Victor took to the turf to decide who’s heading to the Class B state championship.
Early on, Matt Thrasher driving in.
He’d net a pair of goals early on to put Vestal up 2-0.
After falling behind the Blue Devils, Sam Eckert bodies up a defender and then rifles one home.
That made it 9-4 Victor.
Thrasher finished with 4 goals to lead the Golden Bears.
But, the Blue Devils attack was too much in this one.
Camden Hay would lead the charge for Victor, finishing with 3 goals and 8 total points.
Jack LaRue and Joey Pezzimenti combined for 6 goals and 9 points.
The Blue Devils double up Vestal by a final of 12-6.
With the win, Victor advances to the state championship for the 5th straight year.
Meanwhile, the Golden Bears outstanding season comes to an end.
A tremendous run by Vestal with a lot to be proud of.
