Unadilla motocross preview

Unadilla (WIVT) – While many people will have their eyes on Watkins Glen this weekend, there’s another big race going down as the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship returns to Unadilla.

With only three months and six races remaining this race carries a lot of weight.

The field includes several big names including 450 class points leader Ryan Dungey and defending champion Justin Barcia.

In the 250 class, points leader Jeremy Martin and the man right on his heels Marvin Musquin will also be racing.

Also, 51 year-old Utica native Ed Foedish is coming out of retirement to try and compete at what he and other racers call the home of horsepower.

“I’ve never actually raced Unadilla. I raced all the nationals in the 80’s but for some reason I think I was hurt those few years and I never raced this track. It’s a historic track, a lot of legends have been here so this is just an awesome event and I’m psyched to be here,” said Utica native Ed Foedish.

“Locally I think it draws a huge crowd and for everybody in New York that races at this level it’s their home race. And not to mention the name is kind of built off itself, my dad’s telling me about Unadilla when he was a kid and how crazy it used to be. I think the party scene is a big thing about it as well,” said Cicero native Jesse Deryke.
