I took full advantage of what was another beautiful day in the Triple Cities area on Thursday afternoon.
I headed down to Endicott, where the Union-Endicott High School football team was back on the field for practice.
The team has been working hard to get ready for the upcoming season.
Coming off a loss in the Class A state quarterfinals to Whitesboro last year, the team is looking to improve their play on both the offensive and the defensive sides of the ball.
While they still have just over a week until their first game, they certainly have a lot of confidence in how this season can play out for them.
Head coach Tommy Baleno is excited about the quality of athletes that his team has, saying that the kids have worked hard over the off season, many of them playing other sports, something that is highly promoted at U-E.
He also gave me insight as to what he and the other coaches are trying to promote this season.
"We always expect to be better than we were the day before. So, we don't really look for championships, in sections or regionals, or state championships, we don't practice hard for that. We practice to get better every day, and those other things will come in time," said Baleno.
The Tigers will burst through the gates of their new season on Saturday, September 2nd when they travel to Elmira High School, kickoff at 1:30 pm.
