On Thursday, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies took the field at NYSEG Stadium for the first time in the 2019 season.
After having all three of their games postponed in Portland, the team came in well-rested and ready to roll.

A fresh, new infield installed recently to compliment the new video boards and seats.
As far as Thursday’s game goes, for a good chunk of this ball club, this will be the first game in front of the Binghamton home crowd.
While in actuality, it’s just another game to the players and coaches, Rumble Ponies manager Kevin Boles says he and the team are excited to get in front of the fans inside Rumbletown.
“It’ll be a good experience for us. A lot of these guys haven’t played in this league before, and to get in front of your home fans, it’ll be great. The workout today went well. We’re trying to test out the new infield, they just put this in. So, we’re testing that out, testing out the new facility here. But, they’ve done a great job with the stadium. We’re looking forward for fans to come out here,” he said.
With the Ponies first real test on the new field coming later in the day, I followed up with Boles about the player’s reaction to the field conditions.
“It’s early on. So, it plays fast, that’s one thing. The grass is a little bit thick, but it still plays pretty fast. So, we’ll see what happens. We’re going to test it out and see what the hops are, and we’ll go from there.”
Well just a couple hours after that exchange, the team got their first in-game opportunity to test it out.
