Rumble Ponies down SeaWolves 2-1 and 3-0 in doubleheader

Local Sports

A bunch of happy dogs on hand as the Ponies and Erie SeaWolves played two Monday, game one a continuation of a suspended contest back on April 14.

Bottom two here, bases loaded for Mike Paez.

He chops one to short, just slow enough to allow Will Toffey to score.

Ponies up 1-0.

A solid outing for Mickey Jannis.

With it being a continuation, Jannis went the distance today, but only technically logged 8 innings of work.

But he still struck out 7 and only allowed 1 run.

And that blemish coming in the top of the 6th.

Derek Hill just over a leaping Andres Gimenez and into left.

That will bring in Frank Schwindel to tie the game at one apiece.

But, bottom of the inning, and Gimenez gets revenge.

Showing off the power, he drives it up and out to left field for a solo shot.

2-1 Rumble Ponies.

Gimenez had a great game overall.

Here, helping Jannis out with a spectacular play at short.

The spin move and rifles it over to first for the out.

He also had a pair of stolen bases.

Behind gems from Jannis and Gimenez, the Ponies pick up the win in game one, 2-1.

Game two didn’t get underway until almost 8:30 pm, although only a seven-inning affair.

Ali Sanchez had an RBI single in the 1st and Jason Krizan’s two RBI double in the 5th powered the Ponies to a 3-0 win.

These two meet again Tuesday at 6:35 pm.
