Maine-Endwell wins first softball state title in program history

Maine-Endwell looking to add their first state title to the school’s trophy case.

3rd inning, Alexis Wanchisen lines a hard grounder to 2nd, the throw gets there but the Rams first baseman can’t hold on, ball gets away, two runs score on the error.

Next batter up, Brooke Singer with a bloop single to left, run scores and it’s 3-0.

After several lead changes, Emily Hess looking to close it out and she does it in style, emphatic strikeout to end it and Maine-Endwell takes home the first state title in program history with a 6-5 win over Clarke.

“It feels awesome, we’ve worked so hard to get to this point. This has been our plan since the beginning and we just fought to the end,” said Sophomore pitcher Emily Hess.

“There are no words for it, it’s just great. We all wanted it so bad so it’s finally nice to actually get there and we have it now,” said Senior infielder Daniella Dean.

“It’s an amazing feeling. We started off 0-5 to start the year and the seniors stepped up and just refuse to lose. The things that we did throughout the year to get here were amazing. I’m just very proud of them,” said head coach Matt Raleigh.
