High school football recap, 9/29/17

After we kicked off the most recent football week last night at Vestal, it continued tonight all over the area.

We began the rainy night with the 4-0 Chenango Forks Blue Devils and the 1-3 Waverly Wolverines.

Forks already up 7-0 here when Jakob Topa carries this one in for Forks, they go up by two scores.

Further along now, Kristopher Borelli hooks up with Connor Borchardt for the 19 yard score, now 21-0 Blue Devils.

The dominance would continue the rest of the way for Forks as they move to 5-0 on the year with a 48-6 beat down of the Waverly Wolevrines.

By the time I got to Johnson City, it was a 20-14 game at the half and as the band played the appropriate song "Thriller", the rain opened up during the J.C. Hall of Fame inductees ceremony.

When the action started back up, J.C. struck first.

Gavin McKercher rolls to his left and finds Keith Harris, who just gets in the endzone, and with the extra point, the Wildcats would take a one point lead.

However, the Hawks swoop back into the lead on this 27-yard scamper by Ja'Ovian Fisher, Corning back up.

Then, more from the Hawks.

This time on the goal line, Cian Collins gets the call and the score, now Corning goes up 33-21.

They would tack on one more score and go on to beat the Wildcats by a final of 40-21, both teams are now 2-3 on the year.

Susqeuhanna Valley on the road to take on the Owego Indians during their Homecoming night.

2ND QUARTER, JARRED FREIJE BACK TO PASS FOR THE SABERS AND HE CONNECTS WITH DANIEL MATTHEWS FOR THE TOUCHDOWN.

THE SABERS DECIDE TO GO FOR 2, AND JOSEPH HOSKINS PUNCHES IT IN FOR THE TWO-POINT CONVERSION, AS SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY WINS 29-22

Norwich cheerleaders traded in their purple Friday night for pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness.

Norwich off and running right away against Chenango Valley.

Eric Conant will take this one in from 11 yards out, Purple Tornado up 7-0.

Then the big man, Drew Walsh barreling his way through for a big first down here, rumbling 40 yards.

Then, Thomas Parrella connects with Michael Carson for 19 yards, putting them at the Valley 2.

That's close enough for  Grant Wessels who pounds it in, Norwich running away and hiding in this one.

The Purple Tornado take out the Chenango Valley Warriors 48-13.
