East beats West 22-6 in Ernie Davis Classic

Local Sports

By the end of this week, the high school sports fall season will come to an end.

We’ll be inside for the start of winter sports season in no time.

However, before that gets underway, we have two more football games left to be played.

While one of them may have more importance than the other as far as winning, both recognize greatness on the gridiron.

One of those games is this coming Friday as Susquehanna Valley takes on Dobbs Ferry for the Class C state championship.

The other was played Tuesday night over at Union-Endicott.

East meets West at Ty Cobb Stadium for the 2018 Ernie Davis Classic.

A gathering of the areas best of the best when it comes to senior football players.

Second quarter, Maine-Endwell’s Joe Mancini with the keeper from a yard out.

East gets on the board first 7-0.

Third quarter now, Zach Wolcott now at QB.

He rolls right and hucks one down field for Vestal’s Adam Mieczkowski who brings it in.

That great grab would set up this.

Wolcott keeps it himself and picks up the score with his legs.

East extends their lead to 13-0.

Early fourth quarter.

The pitch is to Jeremiah Allen, and the Chenango Forks stud does what he does best.

He finds the end zone, and then a snow bank.

East goes up 22-0.

They would go on to win this one, 22-6.
