The Mets open up their regular season on Thursday against Washington.
Speaking of that game, it will be the debut in a Mets uniform for second baseman Robinson Cano.
The former Yankee and Mariner was acquired via a trade along with closer Edwin Diaz.
Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo, along with the rest of the team, are thrilled to have the accomplished veteran in their clubhouse.
“He’s an amazing guy. To be able to be with a guy who’s been in this New York market before and succeeded, you know, won that World Series. There’s a lot for us to learn from him. He’s got a lot of work ethics that we all need to start doing. I think that’s the biggest thing that he brings to the table,” Nimmo said.
Cano and his teammates will see Max Scherzer going for the Nationals opposite Jacob deGrom for New York.
The two hurlers have combined to win the last three N.L. Cy Young Awards.
