The Binghamton University softball team began play at the America East Championships Wednesday.

After falling to Stony Brook 7-3 in their first game, BU needed to beat Hartford to stay alive, and that they did.

A pair of doubles from Hannah Lyons and Sarah Benn in the 5th put the Bearcats in the lead for good.

BU wins game two 5-3.

They move on to day two, and will get the lower-seeded loser of the two games prior, either UMass Lowell-UMBC or Albany-Stony Brook.

That will be at 4:00 pm Thursday.
