Alonso, McNeil promoted to Triple-A Vegas

BINGHAMTON - The Ponies are now on the road for the next week as they travel to Hartford and then Trenton.

However, they now must do it without the help of their two best hitters.

After Thursday's game, both first baseman Peter Alonso and second baseman Jeff McNeil were promoted to the Mets Triple-A affiliate, the Las Vegas 51's.

The duo were easily the team's most productive batters.

McNeil led the team with a .327 batting average along with 14 home runs and 43 RBIs.

Alonso, no slouch himself, hit .314 with an Eastern League-leading 15 homers and 52 RBIs.

That now leaves a hole on the right side of the Rumble Ponies infield, and a sizeable gap in the order.

However, a well-deserved promotion for those two, and I'm sure we'll see them both in the big leagues in no time.
