It feels like even though he’s moved on from Binghamton and continued his career in Las Vegas, Peter Alonso’s name seems to keep coming up.
But, for good reason.
On Friday, it was announced that Alonso would be representing the New York Mets in the MLB Futures Game.
Alonso is joined by shortstop Andres Gimenez of St. Lucie as Mets representatives.
Alonso will play for Team USA, while Gimenez, who’s from Venezuela, will play on Team World.
Since being called up to the Triple-A level, Alonso is only batting .197, but has hit four home runs and driven in 17 runs.
