It was another exciting weekend of high school football that began Friday night.
We saw Maine-Endwell continue to dominate as they beat Johnson City.
Corning was able to outlast Union-Endicott in a barn burner.
Owego spoiled Windsor’s opening game on their new turf field.
And Tioga bounced back from a week one loss as they beat Spencer-Van Etten Cander.
Now, let’s take a look at how Saturday went for some Section IV teams.
We begin with the 1:00 pm game, Bainbridge-Guilford moves to 2-0 on the year with a 38-24 win over Section II’s Cohoes.
Several games played at 1:30 pm.
Waverly picked up win number with a 49-7 beat down of Edison, who drops to 0-2.
A big showdown at Blue Devils Stadium saw Chenango Forks take care of Norwich, 49-21.
Forks moves to 2-0, while the Purple Tornado fall to 1-1.
Horseheads suffered their first loss of the season when they fell to Elmira, now 2-0, 40-27.
Whitney point also lost for the first time in 2018 after dropping their game 37-24 to Herkimer of Section III.
Newark Valley pounded away at home against Deposit/Hancock, winning it 51-6.
The Cardinals are now 2-0, while the Eagles drop to 1-1.
And the final 1:3-0 start, Harpursville/Afton grinded out a 14-7 win over Delhi to earn their first win.
Delhi now sits at 0-2.
Binghamton had no answer for Section V’s Aquinas at Alumni Stadium Saturday, falling to 0-2 after a 49-7 loss.
And finally, the Susquehanna Valley Sabers are now 2-0 to begin the year after taking out Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour, 56-22.
That loss drops the Seneca Indians to 1-1.
