Day one of the LG&T Tennis Challenger Main Draw got underway.
But, not even through a full match on the center court, rain began to fall and halted play. After many methods were used to dry off the court, we were ready to get back to action.
The tail end of the opening match, final round of qualifying between Mikael Torpegaard of Denmark and Thai-Son Kwiatkowski of the U.S. Torpegaard would take this one in straight sets, 6-4 and 7-5.
After that match, Marcos Giron took on Martin Redlicki, both of the U.S. After a lengthy battle, Giron would take that one in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, and 7-5.
Weather remained an issue all day, with various delays and stoppages. All the later matches, including top seed Jordan Thompson’s, were canceled.
Hopefully things hold up better Tuesday.
