The Bills announced Tuesday they have signed former Seattle Seahawks punter Jon Ryan.

Ryan was cut on Monday after ten seasons in Seattle. Prior to that, Ryan punted two years in Green Bay and two seasons for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL.

The writing appeared to be on the wall for the Ryan after the team traded up in this year’s draft to take Texas punter Michael Dickson in the fifth round.

The Bills lost punter Corey Carter to injury in last Friday’s game against the Browns.

Ryan is the Seahawks all-time leader in punts, punt yards, and authored the team’s longest single punt. He’ll take over from Carter the battle with incumbent Bills punter Colton Schmidt, who has been with the Bills the last four seasons.

Kicker Tyler Davis was released to make room for Ryan.
