Students sat down with local professionals to get a look into their futures.
Windsor Strong Academy Students took part in career ‘speed dating’ at the Binghamton University Downtown Center.
Students took surveys to determine their top three favorite career pathways in the categories of business, health care, computer science, agriculture, education, trades, and engineering.
Then representatives from UHS, Raymond Corporation, IBM, Visions, Catskill Cattle Company, and other businesses talked with students about what a career in their selected pathways looks like.
Program coordinator Stefanie Olbrys says the program is a great tool for students.
“The earlier you start thinking about your future the better off you are when it comes to setting goals and taking specific classes. They’ve also heard from a bunch of speakers this year talking about how important it is to think about what you might need to do to get to where you want to be,” said Olbrys.
The event is part of the Windsor’s Future Ready Knights program.
Olbrys says the Windsor Strong Summer Program had an up tick from about 30 students in 2017 to 57 this year.
