Weis Markets is being thanked for its support of charity in our area.
Grocery store representatives presented the United Way of Broome County with a donation of $6,500 at the Rano Boulevard store in Vestal Monday.
The money went to the United Way’s annual Community Campaign which just wrapped up on June 30.
The funds are a combination of donations from local employees and the supermarket chain itself.
United Way Executive Director Jacqueline Gerchman says 100 percent of the donations go to community projects and programs in Broome County.
“We’re out in the community, that we’re meeting the needs of the community, and our corporate partners definitely help in that initiative. They help us to know and understand what the community needs and that we’re meeting those needs in the community,” said Gerchman.
Gerchman says Weis has given the United Way $75,000 over the past 10 years.
