ADVISORY: Senator Fred Akshar to host “Shed the Meds” Prescription Take Back and 30th “Face Time With Fred” Town Hall Meeting in Waverly on 7/31/18

On Tuesday, July 31st, Senator Fred Akshar will be hosting two events public events in Waverly.

First, Senator Akshar will join the Waverly Police Department, CASA-Trinity and the Waverly Free Library to host a “Shed the Meds” prescription take-back and Narcan training event from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the Waverly Free Library. 

Over the past two years, Akshar’s Shed the Meds events across the 52nd Senate District collected over 900 lbs. of prescription and over-the-counter drugs, getting an estimated street value of $230,000 worth of drugs off the street, according to local law enforcement officials.

CASA-Trinity will be providing on-site Narcan training at 5:00pm to help residents learn how to save a life in the event of an overdose. Those interested in receiving the training can sign up at Akshar.NYSenate.Gov.

Later, Senator Akshar will host his 30th “Face Time With Fred” town hall meeting at the Rail House Restaurant & Tap Room from 5:30pm – 7pm. Community members are invited to attend the informal meeting and share in free pizza, wings and conversation to discuss important state and local issues. 

“Face Time With Fred” town hall meetings continue Senator Akshar’s pledge to remain open and accessible to the people of the 52nd Senate District. Since taking office in 2015, Akshar has held 29 in-person town hall meetings.
