Home for the Holidays with The Burns Sisters at 6 On The Square
OXFORD – On Saturday, December 15, at 7:30 pm, 6 On The Square is pleased to welcome the return of The Burns Sisters Home for the Holidays show to the 6OTS stage. This special holiday musical show mixes traditions old and new with the famous Burns’ spunk and spirit, delighting all ages in the joys and wonders of the season.
The beautiful music they have selected for this annual festive concert at 6OTS has been collected over time and represents both holiday and winter traditions. The Sisters sing from the many customs of holiday music, and they have some fun new songs worked up with the band.
Marie plays rhythm mandolin, and uses the guitar when she writes music. She loves the old-time sounds of early country and bluegrass. Annie writes prolifically, using either piano or guitar for accompaniment as she writes, and she loves to belt out a rock ballad. Members of their band will be accompanying Annie and Marie.
Growing up in Binghamton in a large family of twelve children, Marie and Annie’s family all sang together. Their father, the late John Burns, had an impressive career in politics, which developed a family culture that believed in standing up for the rights of all people. They still walk their talk and bring their beliefs, values, and ideals into their music.
Unwind from the season’s stress, get a huge dose of the Burns Sisters magic, and feel the love!
