Waverly, N.Y. – Friends of Greater Two Rivers State Park will host volunteers at Two Rivers State Park and Waverly Glen Park as part of more than 140 cleanup, improvement and beautification events happening statewide on Saturday, May 4, as part of I Love My Park Day.

I Love My Park Day is an exciting statewide event to improve and enhance New York’s state parks and historic sites and bring visibility to the entire state park system and its needs. Volunteers from across the state will celebrate New York’s state park system by cleaning up park lands, planting trees and gardens, restoring trails and wildlife habitat, removing invasive species, and working on various site improvement projects.

There are plenty of fun and productive activities on the schedule for I Love My Park Day. The trails in Two Rivers State Park are in need of clean-up and maintenance after this winter, and NYS Parks staff will be on hand to help mark the main trail. In Waverly Glen Park, there are retaining walls that need some help, sticks and litter to clean up, and flowers to plant.

Refreshments, snacks, and lunch, will be available. Forest Faces, Nature Sun Art, and Salt Dough Snake Painting activities will be available for kids.

Registration begins at 9 a.m., and events kick off with a press conference starting at 9:30 a.m.
Those interested in volunteering in the projects at Two Rivers State Park and Waverly Glen can register by visiting www.ptny.org/ilovemypark
