GARNAR TO AMAZON – COME TO BROOME COUNTY Invites Amazon to Build New Corporate Headquarters in Broome County, NY

Broome County Executive Jason Garnar has extended an invitation to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos to plant the H2 Headquarters in Broome County if New York City doesn’t want it. “Many of us in upstate NY can’t believe that New York City would actually say no to 25 thousand jobs, but Broome County will gladly take a company that will provide 25 thousand new jobs and five billion dollars of investment in a NY minute,” said Garnar.

In a letter to Bezos sent today, Garnar stated that Broome County is uniquely situated right in the middle of the Northeast within a few hours driving distance of New York City, Albany, Boston, Buffalo, Syracuse, Philadelphia and other large cities. Three major highways all intersect through Broome County, in addition to easy rail access and a regional airport with 300 acres of developable land.
Broome is also home to a world-class university in Binghamton University, one of the finest community colleges in the United States in SUNY Broome Community College, and just an hour drive from Cornell University and Syracuse University.

Garnar personally extended an invitation to Bezos and Amazon to tour the county at their convenience, welcoming the CEO and company with open arms.
