Union-Endicott to face Wappinger in Little League Tournament Friday

News

Another local little league team is looking to make a run at history.

The District 7 Champion Union Endicott 12-A All-Stars began play in the New York State Little League Tournament in the Bronx Tuesday.

They opened up the event in thrilling fashion beating Webster 2 to 1 on a walk-off homerun by Nick Lang.

Pitchers Jonah Conklin and Jacob McTigue combined to allow only two hits, with zero errors committed behind them.

Many of the players from this year’s team had experience playing in the state tournament at the 10 year-old level.

They say the formula to keep winning is very simple.

“Hit the ball, hit the ball, field the ball well and just keep playing how we’ve been playing.”

U-E’s next game in the eight team double elimination tournament will take place Friday at 4 p.m. against Wappinger from Dutchess County.
