Tri-Cities Opera’s “La Traviata” set to take the stage

News

Tri-Cities Opera’s re-imagining of an opera classic is set to take to the Forum stage on Sunday.

TCO held a dress rehearsal Thursday night for its contemporary production of La Traviata.

The orchestra will be up on stage in the back while the singers, dressed in modern tuxedos and gowns, act out the scenes in front of them.

Some Tri-Cities alums have returned for the performance including Timothy LeFebvre as Giorgio, Mary Beth Nelson as Flora and Meroe Khalia Adeeb in the starring role as Violetta.

Adeeb says she’s excited to be back in Binghamton.

“I lived here for 2 years and returned back to Maryland after I finished my Masters Degree.  So, I’m just now returning and it feels like home.  I have friends here still, I still know the community, I know where all the stores are,” said Adeeb.

La Traviata has one performance Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Forum in downtown Binghamton.

That evening at 6 p.m., a special cocktail party fundraiser titled Violetta’s Soiree will take place at the DoubleTree.
