GST BOCES appoints new superintendent

(WETM) – Kelly Houck has been appointed the next Greater Southern Tier Board of Cooperative Education Services (GST BOCES) by the district Board of Education. Houck will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of District Superintendent James Frame.

Houck’s appointment was also approved by New York State Commissioner of Education Dr. Betty A. Rosa and will be finalized by the New York State Education Department in the near future.

Houck, who most recently served as superintendent of schools in the Dundee Central School District, will begin at GST BOCES prior to the start of the new school year.

Before her employment with GST BOCES, Houck also served as superintendent of schools in Canaseraga for two years and worked in the Bradford Central School District for 14 years as a classroom and special education teacher, director of special education, building principal, and transportation supervisor. 

Houck earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in elementary and special education from Mansfield University. She received a school district administrator certificate from SUNY Brockport.
