The Tioga County Chamber of Commerce has reason to celebrate, this year marks its 100th anniversary.
It was originally formed as the Owego Chamber of Commerce in 1919 before changing its name to Tioga County in 1972.
In its early days, it focused on economic development issues and real estate dealings in the Owego area.
Today, it provides its members with networking events, marketing help and making direct connections between area businesses.
To celebrate, the Tioga Chamber is throwing a gala on Saturday February 16th at Tioga Downs Casino Resort.
President & CEO Gwen Kania says, “It’s going to be a sit-down dinner, we’re going to have a deejay and dancing, very little talking. As much as you would think we would have speakers upon speakers, we also have a whole year to celebrate. So, we are making this the kick-off party of the year.”
The Chamber is also raffling off this wooden deacon’s bench made from tiger maple and oak and filled with liquor.
Tickets to the gala are $55 and can be purchased now through this Friday by going to: TiogaChamber.com.
