This Day in Binghamton History: The anti-cigarette league

News

APRIL 28 – Today in Binghamton history, the anti-cigarette league was formed in 1895.

Boys from various school districts got together to make a promise – abstaining from what they called “the evil weed.”

Although, not forever – just until they were of age.

They hoped to use their influence to get other smokers to quit as well.
