This Day in Binghamton History: liquor raid (1921)


MAY 11 – Today in Binghamton History, raids are started to keep Binghamton dry.

With the Prohibition well underway at this point, Public Safety Commissioner Louis Green decides to crackdown on the numerous bootlegging operations throughout the city.

In the following weeks cars are torn apart looking for secret compartments and buildings are raided.

A large quantity of liquor is taken back to police headquarters.
