MAY 24 – Today’s fact comes from 1848.

Today in 1848 General Tom Thumb, made famous by PT Barnum’s “Greatest Show on Earth” comes to visit Binghamton.

At 24 years old, Thumb stood at 2 and a half feet and weighed about 31 pounds.

He was placed on exhibit at the courthouse, where he sang, danced and played the violin.
