Theater enthusiasts in the Binghamton area have something to look forward to this weekend.
The Summer Youth Musical Theater Workshop sponsored by SUNY Broome presents Les Miserables.
The workshop is a 3 week program open to all students in the area ages 12 to 18.
It allows the children to work in all aspects of the production along with learning from professional vocal and acting coaches.
Music director Brenda Dawe says there’s a chance for students to do something they love while building lifetime relationships.
“They come from all different schools and then they come here and form this group and they get bonds. They still connect throughout the school year. It’s amazing how they feel like everybody here, they’re like me,” said Dawe.
Along with Saturday’s shows, their production of Les Mis will be taking place at 2 and 7:30 Sunday at Binghamton high Schools Helen Foley Theater.
Tickets are 15 dollars for the general public and 12 for seniors and students.
