On Wednesday, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies announced that their search for a new manager has quickly come to an end.
Just three days after Luis Rojas was promoted to the New York Mets coaching staff, leaving the Ponies’ skipper position open, the team has named Kevin Boles as the manager for the upcoming 2019 season.
Boles, who’s spent the last five years with the Pawtucket Red Sox, Boston’s Triple-A affiliate, brings a great deal of experience and success to Binghamton. The 43-year old is entering his 20th year as a coach at the Minor League level. He won an International League championship with Pawtucket in 2014, and was named as the league’s Best Managerial Prospect last season.
Boles is now the second Rumble Ponies manager, and the 16th in Binghamton baseball history.
Boles and the Ponies open up their 2019 season on April 4 on the road against New Hampshire.
