A local attorney has made his bid for a state supreme court seat official.
Republican Oliver Blaise announced his candidacy for state supreme court in the 6th judicial district.
The 6th judicial district covers 10 Southern Tier counties including Broome, Chenango, Delaware and Tioga.
Blaise has been a partner at Coughlin and Gerhart since 2004.
In his over 2 decades as an attorney he has gained a vast array of experience concentrating on municipal law and civil litigation.
Blaise says his wide variety off experiences has prepared him for this opportunity. “I will be an honest, trust worthy, and patient presence for them on the bench. When people come into court it’s often a scary or trying experience for them. I’ve spent a lot of time in the courtroom so I know what a good judicial demeanor should be.”
Along with his legal experience, Blaise serves as Republican election commissioner with the Brome County Board of Elections.
He is also a member of the United Way’s board of directors and a past president of the Broome County Bar Association.
