Karen Beebe Announces Campaign for Broome County Legislature
County Executive Garnar hosts event for friends and supporters

On Tuesday night, surrounded by friends and supporters at County Executive Jason Garnar’s
home, Karen Beebe announced her campaign for Broome County Legislature District 12. District
12 represents Town of Dickinson, north side of Johnson City, and the northwest side of the city
of Binghamton.

Beebe works locally as a medical laboratory professional, with 15 years of experience in science
and healthcare. She is currently in her second term as Co-President of the Chenango Valley
Nursery School. Last year, she worked to stop the compressor station in Fenton that would
have been built next to the park where her kids play. Beebe and her family moved to the Town
of Dickinson 10 years ago.

“I decided to run because I believe we need a fresh perspective in our local government. We
need a government that represents the people of this community,” said Beebe. “I’m not a
career politician. I live here, I work here, I’m raising my three little girls here. It’s important to
me to be a role model for them. Women are needed in government now more than ever. It’s
important to me that I create a stronger, more stable community, not just for my daughters,
but for you and your children, too.”

Introducing Beebe, Garnar said, “What we should demand from our elected officials is to get
engaged. Karen is exactly the kind of person we need in office. She’s an incredible professional,
wife, and mother, but most importantly, she cares about this community.”

Candidates are currently collecting petition signatures to be on the ballot. Election Day is
November 6, 2018.
