Protesters shout at VP’s motorcade entering and leaving Katko fundraiser

While about 200 people had lunch inside the Embassy Suites at Destiny USA with Vice President Mike Pence and Republican Congressman John Katko Tuesday, nearly 300 people were waiting outside.

The members of the Anti-President Trump movement were making sure their voices were heard, on issues ranging from border security to taxes to healthcare.

The group says if Katko isn’t standing against the Trump/Pence Administration, he’s standing with it.

Lilie Welych, a protester from Camillus, says: “I think Katko was a puppet of the Republican Party, and even though he says he stands on his own, he follows the Republican Party and he’s now a puppet of Pence as far as I’m concerned.”

Onondaga County’s Republican Chairman Tom Dadey tells sister station NewsChannel 9 that Pence did see the protesters and made note of them inside the lunch.

Congressman John Katko has represented New York’s 24th Congressional District in the House of Representatives since 2015.

The 24th Congressional District includes all of Cayuga, Onondaga, and Wayne counties, and the western part of Oswego County. Its largest city is Syracuse.
