The Broome County Department of Public Works Engineering Division has announced a public informational meeting will be held to discuss the proposed replacement of the Old Route 17 (CR 28) Bridge over Oquaga Creek.
Broome County, in cooperation with the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHA), is developing design studies for this proposed project. The meeting will be held at the Village Hall in the Village of Deposit on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m.
The purpose of the meeting is to obtain comments on the project’s social, economic, and environmental effects from individuals, groups, officials, and local agencies. This public information meeting is part of the continuing effort by Broome County, the NYSDOT, and the FHA to encourage public input into the development of transportation projects.
The Old Route 17 (CR 28) Bridge over Oquaga Creek is located in the Town of Sanford. The bridge is located approximately 300 feet east of the intersection with Oquaga Lake Road and approximately 200 feet west of the intersection with the NYS Route 17 eastbound on-ramp. This project has arisen since past inspections have revealed areas of significant structural deterioration.
