A regional supermarket chain is raising money for disaster relief at a time when it’s particularly needed.

Price Chopper stores are seeking donations from their customers for the Red Cross throughout the month of September.

Besides assisting with large-scale national disasters like Hurricane Florence, local Red Cross operations, including the Southern Tier Chapter, provide shelter and aid to victims of house fires, flash flooding and snow storms.

Customers can use $1 or $5 coupons at checkout and Price Chopper will match those donations up to $5,000.

“We’re really lucky to also have the customer donation with the matching gift from Price Chopper as well. They’ve been fantastic partners and supporters of the Red Cross for years. We’re really excited to be doing this with them again,” Executive Director Colleen McCabe says.

The campaign runs through September 30th.

Price Chopper is also donating another $5,000 specifically for Hurricane Florence relief.
