Aaron Powell has once again been found guilty of murdering his estranged wife and her boyfriend.
Powell was found guilty of one count of 1st degree murder and two counts of 2nd degree murder for the killing of Christina Powell and Mario Masciarelli .
The jury began deliberations yesterday and continued into today before coming to a verdict.
In the first trial, deliberations lasted two hours compared to close to 8 this time.
Special Prosecutor Vincent Accardi says to him the verdict seemed obvious. “You gotta feel so bad for the family to have to go through this twice. It’s just terrible and we’re just very happy that the outcome was the same. There’s really not one or two things to point to, in my mind it was so overwhelming. You can separate the science and you had all the facts. You can separate the facts you had all the science. The fact that you had so much of it together, there’s just no single piece of evidence it was just so overwhelming in my mind.”
Powell’s attorney Bruce Barket says he respects the jury process and is sure Powell will appeal once again.
His first conviction was thrown out because the appeals court ruled that one of the jurors had a conflict.
Powell faces life in prison, his sentencing has not yet been scheduled.
