As population loss continues for New York State, a change in the state’s federal representation will come with it.
New York has been losing people for the last three years.
According to the Bureau’s report, New York is one of nine states that lost population last year.
At 48,000 people, New York has the highest number of people who left in the last year.
If those numbers prove to be true in the 2020 census, New York stands to lose one and potentially even two congressional members in the House.
Upstate New York is seeing the biggest decline since 2010, 42 of the 50 upstate counties recorded a loss of population.
