Planning boards organize an Active Recovery Workforce Event

News

An upcoming event looks to get those in drug recovery back to work.

The Southern Tier 8 Regional Board and the Southern Tier Central Regional Planning Development Board are co-hosting an Active Recovery Workforce Event.

Those in recovery from opioid addiction will be able to attend the 2 hour training to prepare themselves for the workforce.

The Appalachian Regional Commission is prioritizing funding for projects looking to help recovering addicts get back on their feet.

Southern Tier 8 Regional Director Jen Gregory says this is one of the best ways to keep people on the path to recovery. “It’s been found that folks who are in active recovery, of course they need support from their family. But it’s shown that their active recovery is more successful if they are employed.”

The event will take place on April 10th at 8 a.m. at the McKinley in Endicott.

Admission is $20 and includes breakfast.
