Things aren’t all sugar plums and fairies in the state of New York this Christmas season.
In a new study conducted by CenturyLink, New York ranks among the lowest states in the country in Christmas spirit.
New York finished 34th on the list, while Pennsylvania finished 11th on the ranking.
To compile their ranking, CenturyLink used data in two main categories: online activity and area culture.
Online activity included Google searches for Christmas movies, gingerbread houses, shopping trends for wrapping paper, Christmas cards, Christmas ornaments, and “Elf on a Shelf.”
Area culture examined the number of Christmas tree farms per capita and charitable giving.
The Christmas spirit leaders included Washington, South Dakota, Utah, Missouri, and Maine.
States determined to be “Grinches” include Alaska, Hawaii, Florida, New Jersey, and Michigan.
