New York residents have the highest tax burden in the country according to a new study from WalletHub.
The study examined property tax as a share of personal income, individual income taxes as a share of personal income, and total sales & excise tax as a share of personal income.
New York also had the highest individual income tax burden of all 50 states.
States that voted for Donald Trump in the 2016 Presidential Election had a lower tax burden than states that voted for Hillary Clinton.
Alaska had the lowest tax burden thanks to zero individual income tax burden and one of the lowest sales and excise tax burdens.
